Calm Waters and TGIF

It's FRIDAY, which means I have successfully endured the first week of this journey! Today was a calm day once again at headquarters, as everyone sat down once again in front of a computer screen to try to make the best out of what they knew about HTML and CSS.

Unfortunately Mr. Arkin, having disappeared yesterday for Rosh Hashanah celebrations, did not grace us with his appearance today, which meant that any questions we had for him had to wait. Most of us though, myself included, wanted to get started ASAP on the HTML/CSS project that was linked to what we had learned: create our own website, then create a webpage about a fictitious superpower that we have! (The details of the assignment can be found here.)

Now you may think this assignment is pretty straight-forward. I would've agreed with you, had we had been allowed to use an awesome program called Microsoft Frontpage! But, because life just has to be difficult, OF COURSE NOT. Instead we had to, using all that we'd learned (and additional info from the Internet if wanted), code a webpage from scratch! This really proved to be easier said than done.

With most of the frustrating moments wiped away from yesterday's class, I managed to get off to a nice start, after checking out various HTML and CSS tutorials on the web. When the period was over, I had managed to create a nice layout for my to-be website! I plan to work on it more during the weekend.

The most awesome part about this assignment is that once our websites are finished, we will actually be able to post them up, live on the web! I will be sure to post the link on here as soon as it's up. I can't believe I'm actually on my way to creating a real website! Yay!

For now, even more Yay! because TGIF! It has been a tiring week, full of learning and getting to know new things at VP, so I'm really glad the weekend is finally here. Time to go relax for awhile before tackling this assignment... SO have an awesome weekend, and I'll talk to you later!
